South African Army Chaplain Colonel’s Visor Cap – Purple Band (Pre-1994)

This visor cap was issued to a Colonel in the South African Army Chaplaincy Corps, distinguished by the deep purple band-a color traditionally associated with military chaplaincy and ecclesiastical roles. The cap features a brown whipcord crown, gold bullion-embroidered visor with protea insignia, and a unique chaplain badge depicting scales of justice and fasces. Buttons bearing the pre-1994 South African coat of arms secure the black chinstrap, indicating official military-issue.
