French Sabre-Briquet – Model An XI / 1816 Pattern

A solid example of the classic French infantry short sabre known as the sabre-briquet. This piece features the distinctive one-piece cast brass hilt with a deeply ribbed grip and full D-shaped knuckle-bow terminating in a curled quillon. The slightly curved, single-edged blade retains its original profile and displays uniform age-related oxidation together with a chipped tip corner — clear evidence of period service use. The hilt remains firmly attached and shows the expected dulling and wear to the brass surfaces. An unrestored example of this iconic French sidearm. No scabbard is present.
