1939 Grand Cross Of The Iron Cross – L/58 Early Exhibition

Grand Cross of the Iron Cross, 1939 pattern, by Rudolf Souval, Wien. Large three-piece cross about 63 mm across, magnetic iron core, silvered beaded frame. The upper frame is stamped L/58 and 800 beside the eye. Wide neck ribbon present. Frame shows edge wear and silver loss; the reverse core has paint loss; the ribbon has storage fray. Souval produced these large L/58 exhibition crosses after the war for veterans and the collector trade.
