A classic French infantry short sabre of the early 19th century, known as the sabre-briquet. This example features the distinctive one-piece solid brass hilt with a deeply ribbed grip and full D-shaped knuckle-bow terminating in a curled quillon. The slightly curved, single-edged blade has a flat spine and retains a clear stamped monogram/inspector’s mark at the ricasso. The blade shows an honest aged patina with scattered oxidation and service wear consistent with its age. No scabbard is present.
