Imperial Austrian Military Merit Cross (Franz Joseph Era)
+ Free ShippingThis red-enamelled Military Merit Cross was instituted in 1849 by Emperor Franz Joseph I of Austria to reward officers for outstanding service and military distinction. The obverse shows the crowned initials FJ surrounded by ornate inscriptions, while the reverse bears the foundation year 1849. The upper suspension ring is attached to an intricately detailed imperial crown, typical of Austro-Hungarian decoration style. This is an early and beautifully preserved example of an important imperial-era award.
