K-R-I-T Motor Car Hub Cap – Detroit, c.1910–1915

Hub cap from the K-R-I-T Motor Car Company of Detroit, Michigan, produced during the firm’s short run from 1909 to 1915. The cap is heavy cast metal with a raised central swastika inside a circular field and the letters K, T, R and I spaced around the rim — the factory mark used on K-R-I-T wheels and early advertising. The threaded mounting collar remains on the reverse.

K-R-I-T used the swastika as a good-luck emblem, a common commercial device in the years before the First World War. This is an American automobile part, not German military equipment and not a Third Reich vehicle fitting.

The cap retains a dark, even age patina with oxidation in the recesses, visible casting and tool marks, and honest wear to the high points. The form is intact, the lettering remains sharp, and no modern recasting or added hardware is evident.
